Supplier Spotlight: The sweet smell of success–Zulily finds a match with Beamer Candle Co.

Learn how Beamer Candle Co. scored a deal with Zulily just two weeks after signing up for RangeMe.

Isabel Ramirez on March 24, 2020

When Ryan Salem and his family noticed their smoking products, such as papers and accessories, were excelling compared to other product sales in their family-owned grocery store, the family decided to use that knowledge to their advantage and launched an online multi-brand business. The new business called Beamer Smoke and its co-brand Beamer Candle Co., founded in 2010, e-commerce sites quickly took off but Salem wanted to help grow the businesses’ retail opportunities. Later, Salem branded SmokeHouse Distribution as the B2B wholesale hub for all smoking products, candles, and accessories – servicing smoke shops, dispensaries, and wholesalers/distributors. Salem came across RangeMe in his search and signed up as a Pro Account in December, and a few weeks later, their Beamer Candle Co. business received its first message from Zulily inquiring about a purchase order. Read on to learn more about Beamer Candle Co. products and how they used RangeMe to get a deal with a major corporate, online retailer account.

A candle that makes scents

Beamer Candle Co. has two lines of candles with a purpose: Beamer Candle Co. Killer Smoke Edition and Beamer Candle Co. Aromatic Home Series. All candles have the industry-leading burn time of 90 hours, are made with natural odor-eliminating ingredients that remove kitchen, bathroom, pet, and smoke odors, and are domestically sourced and manufactured in the United States. Their best-selling scents include Cannabis Killer, 70’s Lovin, Ol’ Fashion French Vanilla, and Nag Champa.

“Our candles are made from the highest quality soy and ingredients that eliminate smoke and all other odors that happen in the kitchen, bathroom, and with pets, just to name a few. Each candle has eco-friendly packaging and is set in a mason jar with a handle and metal lid so the jar can be used as a cup once the candle runs out. We also support fair wages for the soy farmers in the United States that make our candles, it’s an important aspect of our business,” shares Salem, Co-Owner of the company.

Growing sale channels with RangeMe

Beamer Candle Co. got to a point where they were confident in their e-commerce sales and like most emerging brands, was ready to broaden their sales channels. With new opportunities on their mind, Salem took to Google and searched for wholesale applications and ways to get into retail. That is when he discovered RangeMe and within a few weeks he signed up as a Pro account–meaning each of their brands has their own premium profile–published products back in January, and got RangeMe Verified™.

“My two favorite features RangeMe offers are Submissions and Profile Insights. With Submissions, we have the ability to submit directly to multiple retailers once a year. And Profile Insights, which I check multiple times a day, can be used to see which retailers are checking out our pages. With that information, we can time our submissions or reach out with an email,” shares Salem.

Zulily finds a match

By setting up their profile with clear product images and the most accurate product and company information, it was no surprise that Zulily reached out only a few weeks after joining RangeMe.

“Within a few weeks of signing up, Zulily reached out to us requesting a purchase order for our candles for a ‘Beamer Candle Co.’ launch event. These four-day promotion events are hosted by Zulily for customers on their website to promote a theme, product category, or brand. Our first event was dedicated just to Beamer Candle Co. and it did so well Zulily invited us back for six more events that featured our candles,” says Salem.

Next up for Beamer Candle Co.

For Beamer Candle Co., it was a new experience to work with a major retailer like Zulily. “We were used to working with businesses like online smoke shops, local stores, and wholesalers/distributors. It was a totally different experience to sell to a corporate company like Zulily,” shares Salem. “It was a learning experience for us and a great opportunity to learn how they operate so we can take our experience with Zulily and be prepared for the next retailer we work with.”

Salem will take their experience using Submissions and Profile Insights in addition to what they learned and a company working with Zulily onto the next retailer they connect with through RangeMe.
