Co-founders Mike Johnson and Koray Benson founded the brand in response to various health issues they were both personally struggling with. Investigating the potential benefits of different herbs and spices ultimately led them to create <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drinkroletea.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Role Tea<\/a> in an effort to help others manage and improve their health. Learn how this brand scored a deal with HomeTown Pharmacy and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rangeme.com\/hyvee?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=customer_spotlight&amp;utm_campaign=hyvee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hy-Vee<\/a> through RangeMe while shaking up the functional beverage space.<\/p>\n<p><b>On the hunt for a healthy solution<\/b><br \/>\nWhen Johnson began experiencing increased soreness after exercise, he wanted to create a healthy solution. At the same time, Benson noticed how many people around him were frequently using painkillers to manage their everyday aches and pains while consuming unhealthy food and beverages at the same time. Together, the pair was inspired to create a new functional beverage\u2014defined as a drink that also offers health benefits\u2014to alleviate soreness and inflammation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3758 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/rangeme-blog-images.imgix.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2018-10-18-at-4.04.52-PM-230x300.png?auto=format%2Ccompress\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"300\" \/>\u201cThe functional part usually means it doesn\u2019t have a great taste,\u201d Benson explains. But Role Tea is determined to change that perception. Johnson and Benson teamed up with food scientists and created over 60 versions of their drink before settling on their Role Tea formula, which combines flavored tea, juice, and a variety of good-for-you spices like ginger, black pepper, and turmeric.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent iteration of Role Tea has also removed all added sugar from the beverage, which means it is healthier, keto-friendly, and fit for a broader range of customers.<\/p>\n<p><b>Accessibility for all<\/b><br \/>\nWhile Role Tea is a health-focused drink, Benson doesn\u2019t want it to be exclusive to health-conscious consumers who are already aware of the functional beverage space.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"pull-left\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8220;RangeMe allows us to access a wide variety of retailers who we may not have had access to previously.\u201d <\/span><\/span>\u201cWe don\u2019t want Role Tea to be a niche beverage that only targets a specific type of consumer,\u201d Benson explains. \u201cWe actually want it to be for the general consumer who may not know much about functional beverages and is looking to add something healthy to their diet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With this goal of making Role Tea accessible to all consumers, Benson turned to RangeMe to help give the brand a wider reach. \u201cOur main goal with RangeMe was to get in front of more retailers,\u201d he explains. \u201cThe RangeMe platform allows us to have access to a wide variety of retailers out there who we may not have had access to previously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Hitting a home run with HomeTown Pharmacy &amp; Hy-Vee<\/b><br \/>\nAfter joining RangeMe, Role Tea caught the eye of HomeTown Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy with over 40 locations throughout Michigan and Indiana. At the time, HomeTown Pharmacy was running a health initiative and they were using RangeMe to source new, health-focused products to help their customers, which is how they came across Role Tea and decided to bring the brand into their stores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really excited about the opportunity,\u201d Benson says, \u201cand the process of working with the retailer was seamless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3758 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/rangeme-blog-images.imgix.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2018-10-18-at-4.07.32-PM-300x264.png?auto=format%2Ccompress\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/>In addition to that health initiative, HomeTown Pharmacy also holds an annual conference where they bring in all of their pharmacists to make sure they are educated about any new products. This education opportunity turned out to be another huge win for Role Tea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe worked with one of our representatives to put a video together to educate the pharmacists on Role Tea,\u201d Benson explains, \u201cand that actually helped us pick up even more in-store locations with HomeTown!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to their success with HomeTown Pharmacy, Role Tea has also been placed in select Hy-Vee locations after connecting with a Hy-Vee buyer through RangeMe, which has been a huge win for the brand.<\/p>\n<p><b>A tea-licious future<\/b><br \/>\nRole Tea is excited to continue their partnerships with HomeTown Pharmacy and Hy-Vee while pursuing additional retailer placements. They are especially interested in connecting with smaller, independent retailers like HomeTown Pharmacy, and finding even more opportunities to educate retailers and consumers about the health benefits of Role Tea.
