From there, Bond became a bonafide coffee addict, spending his free time learning about and sampling various roasts and brews. In 2003, Bond was able to realize every coffee lover\u2019s dream when he and his wife, Christi, began roasting their own coffee beans and co-founded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independencecoffee.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Independence Coffee Company<\/a>. Curious how this women-owned, RangeMe Verified\u2122 brand found success with Hannaford, a subsidiary of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rangeme.com\/aholddelhaizeusbrands?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=customer_spotlight&amp;utm_campaign=ahold\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ahold-Delhaize<\/a>? Grab a cup of joe and read on to hear Bond\u2019s story.<\/p>\n<p><b>Building a company from the <em>grounds<\/em> up<\/b><br \/>\nSoon after realizing his passion for coffee, Bond moved to Brenham, Texas, a small town with a population of about 17,000. He saw an abandoned building in town one day, and immediately thought to himself, \u201cThat would make a great espresso shop.\u201d And thus, Independence Coffee Company was born. Even in such a small town, sales took off thanks to their products were so unique.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3758\" src=\"https:\/\/rangeme-blog-images.imgix.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/beans-in-bag-268x300.png?auto=format%2Ccompress\" alt=\"\" width=\"268\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since then, the brand has expanded their offering to account for the changing tastes of their customers. \u201cOur new audience is interested in micro-lot and single origin coffees.\u201d Micro-lot coffee is when the best beans in a crop are chosen in order to bring out their unique qualities. Single-origin coffee means that all of the beans were grown in the same geographic region.<\/p>\n<p>When they first started out, Independence Coffee Co. roasted about 2,000 pounds of coffee per year. Today, the brand has 25 employees, five roasters, and roasts over 650,000 pounds of coffee per year\u2014a huge leap from their humble beginnings. Independence Coffee Co. will also celebrate their 15th anniversary this year on October 3rd.<\/p>\n<p><b>Searching for a sales solution<\/b><br \/>\nWhile Independence Coffee Co. found success selling their coffee blends to various retailers as well as bed and breakfasts and corporate offices, the brand decided to sign up for RangeMe to boost their sales strategy.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"pull-right\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8220;We gained more exposure, and interest in our brand took off right away.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore RangeMe, our sales person felt exasperated because he struggled to capture buyers\u2019 attention, and buyers seemed so overwhelmed they rarely replied to him,\u201d Bond explains. \u201cHe recommended RangeMe as a way to boost our brand awareness, and simplify our marketing and sales efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After creating a RangeMe account, the brand decided to get RangeMe Verified. \u201cIt was an easy decision,\u201d Bond says of upgrading, \u201cand it paid off. We gained more exposure, and interest in our brand took off right away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Creating a buzz with buyers<\/b><br \/>\nWhen Hannaford, a supermarket chain operating throughout New England and owned by Ahold-Delhaize, reached out to Independence Coffee Co. on RangeMe, it only took a few months for a deal to move forward. \u201cIt&#8217;s really a seamless process,\u201d Bond says of his experience with Hannaford on RangeMe. \u201cWe sent samples in, filled out some paperwork, and now we&#8217;re in stores; it was really easy.\u201d <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-3758\" src=\"https:\/\/rangeme-blog-images.imgix.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/beans-inn-bag-240x300.png?auto=format%2Ccompress\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"305\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since their deal with Hannaford, Independence Coffee Co. is excited to see what other retailers they\u2019ll hear from on RangeMe, and they keep an eye on their profile at all times. \u201cWe find it pretty addictive,\u201d Bond says of RangeMe. \u201cWe love to watch our account\u2014it\u2019s exciting to see which retailers are checking us out!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was also through RangeMe that Bond got involved with ECRM\u2019s category-based sessions. Independence Coffee Co. has participated in the Winter Snack &amp; Dry Grocery EPPS in February 2018, as well as the Summer Snack &amp; Dry Grocery and Beverage EPPS in July 2018.<\/p>\n<p><b>A coffee-filled future<\/b><br \/>\nLooking ahead, Independence Coffee Co. wants to keep growing and expertly marketing their products.
